Misguided and Wasteful Loyalties

Are you remaining loyal to a person or group who has violated your principles? Are you doing it because you place great value on loyalty or for another reason? If you think about staying loyal to a person or group who does not honor or no longer aligns with your principles, does that make sense?

If you discover that a family member, friend, political figure, or group has been lying to you, misleading you, or conning you, staying loyal to them is self-deception and self-abuse. The same would be true if they are doing any of the same things to other people. Can you honestly continue associating with them with a smile and a clear conscience?

Would it not make more sense to give your loyalties to people and groups that align with your principles and do not violate them? Don’t sacrifice your integrity to stay loyal to a person or group even if they provide some benefit or comfort to you. Long term that will only continue to chip away at your character and self-esteem.

Stay true to yourself, your principles, and the people and groups worthy of your loyalty.
